Landuse analysis of Wadi Gaza
par Web Team
Wadi Gaza flow from east to west, it divides the Gaza Strip into north and south. The large percentage of the land surrounded the wadi on both sides is located within municipal boundaries and small is located within the regional areas. To the north, there are three local authorities El-Zahra’a, El-Moghraga, and Wadi Gaza Village Council, while to the south there are two, en-Nusairat and el-Bureije municipalities.
The study zone will include part of the municipal areas because they do influence each other, the Wadi has its impact directly on the land use in the municipalities and also, the land use in these municipalities have its impact directly or indirectly on the Wadi.
First of all, delineating the Wadi zone is not that easy to start with, but for the sake of starting analysis there should be a kind of preliminary definition for study zone. However defining the wadi zone is still something virtual while areas are still under the municipal authority or the central government in the regional area.
Generally speaking, defining the Wadi zone for analytical purposes or even to define it for a certain use depends on a set of elements in which they give clear vision for delineating or defining the limits of the area. Meanwhile defining the Wadi zone should have homogenous character and features, and this will depend mainly on the site visits.
The elements that are needed for deliniating the area are as follow:
Fragmentation caused by natural forms due to topography.
Fragmentation that arises from physical conditions created by human activities such as urban development.
Fragmentation due to ownership inheritance and land parcilation.
