Netcoast : A Guide to Integrated Coastal Zone Management
Tuesday 13 May 2003, by Web Team

NetCoast is the place on the worldwide Web where professionals in Integrated Coastal Zone Management come for the latest relevant information, knowledge, documents, publications, software systems, fresh links to other sites and for professional collaboration. NetCoast is a virtual meeting-place for everyone involved in coastal zone issues.

NetCoast is made and maintained by the Dutch Coastal Zone Management Centre. Responsibility for the program lies with the Coastal Zone Management Centre, unless otherwise specified. By starting NetCoast the Dutch Coastal Zone Management Centre supports Integrated Coastal Zone Management, providing an overview of available expertise and shows how this expertise can be used. NetCoast supports the development of innovative tools, the execution of scientific research and the public-private collaboration.

What do you find on NetCoast:

- Flexible, interactive mail-list system and the Electronic Address Book to find specialists on ICZM world-wide.
- An ever-changing selection of ICZM conference and training announcements.
- Links to information sources on CZM issues; Biodiversity; Climate and Climate change, Coastal and marine Environment, Coral and Coral Reefs; Mangroves, Remote Sensing, Other interesting links and new items
- Different instruments developed in The Netherlands are disseminated world-wide, such as; Decision Supports Systems, GIS tools, The NetCoast Open Learner (NOL).
- Reports and abstracts on Coastal and Marine projects/ICZM publications
- The NetCoast Tutorial provides an overview of coastal types, processes and describes the process of integrated coastal zone management. It also describes some international cases.
- Argus , information
- Global Vulnerability Assessment (GVA) Atlas.

Currently, there are developments to improve the NetCoast site and to make a step towards the idea of a dynamic site. Such approach will help to increase the added value of the site, and to make the "coastal community" better known nationally and internationally.

NetCoast invites you to send your reactions and contributions to the Webmiss, Mrs. Carla Bennink.
