MWC Egypt: Setting up the Safety Net: MedWetCoast Supports Civil Society
Wednesday 1 December 2004, by Web Team

Further to its efforts in mobilizing and empowering civil society for the purpose of sustainability and grass-root involvement, MedWetCoast-Egypt conducted two training workshops for the local non governmental organizations NGOs it had helped set up in its three protectorates.

One workshop was held in Zaranik protectorate on 18-20 July, 2004. Around 26 board members of three local NGOs attended. The other was held in Omayed protectorate on 13 -14 October, 2004. Around 23 board members of four local NGOs attended.

Both workshops were designed to acquaint NGOs’ board members with basic skills and knowledge of NGO management. They discussed NGO laws & legislation, board members’ rights & duties, and financial & institutional management of NGOs. Training was undertaken by the Scientific Society of Egyptian Cooperators SSEC, a national NGO specialized in capacity building and training.
