Intensive meetings with local communities organized by MedWetCoast Egypt
A Bonus to Civil Society: Zaranik’s Two New NGOs
Thursday 15 April 2004, by Web Team

In keeping up with the developmental goal of strengthening civil society and activating it as a development partner, Community Development Advisor Dr. Magda Ghoneim has succeeded in forming two non-governmental organizations in Zaranik.

The initiation of the two NGOs came after intensive meetings with local communities, to convince them of the merits of NGOs. The meetings resulted in the rallying of locals into two NGOs, representing the major segments of local society: Bedouins and fishermen.

The Bedouin NGO has been successfully established. Final procedures for the Fishermen’s NGO are underway, and expected to be completed soon. The project aims to continue supporting both NGOs, and has two training course planned for them so far.
