MedWet Region - Tour du Valat -
Training on management planning for Mediterranean wetlands
Murcia - Spain
Tuesday 9 March 2004, by Web Team

The course will enable trainees to develop a management plan for the site they manage: namely, knowing the prerequisites before launching such a plan, the step-by-step process with its parallel in the written document (the different sections), and the principles to apply at each stage to ensure that the plan is fully in the spirit of integrated management. The methodology adopted is that developed during the first phase of the MedWet initiative in 1993-96, in the Tour du Valat training modules series (Perennou et al., 1996).

Teaching methods

Besides lectures (that will be kept to a minimum), the course will put the emphasis on putting into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired by the trainees. They will design themselves a management plan on a real case study from a nearby wetland, and present it to the official bodies in charge of nature conservation on the last day.
