Christian Perennou is a biologist, with a Ph.D. in waterbird Ecology and an Engineer degree in Forestry & Agronomy. He started his carrier in India, working on wintering waterfowl ecology and conservation, and from there moved logically to Wetlands International (then in UK), to coordinate the pan-Asian Waterfowl Census and to launch a similar programme for Africa. In 1993 he moved to Tour du Valat at the inception of MedWet 1, and has since been working there. Over the years, he has covered a number of topics, most prominently Training : organizing courses, producing pedagogical documents, ensuring a Mediterranean-wide transfer of the MedWet Training tools... He has also co-authored several of the MedWet booklets and other publications, and run various projects such as the "MedWet 4 - Danone-Evian" project (network of Mediteranean/ Black Sea deltas), feasibility study for an Observatory of the Camargue, and currently coordinates a LIFE project on the conservation of Mediterranean temporary pools, a highly threatened wetland type in S. France.
