Project Initiative in Tyre Coast Nature Reserve
Organic Farming Pilot Project : An alternative project initiated through MedWetCoast Lebanon project
Wednesday 30 July 2003, by Web Team

The MedWetCoast project of Lebanon has initiated with the Government Appointed Committee (GAC) of Tyre Coast Nature Reserve in collaboration with Methyl Bromide Alternative project, Healthy Basket-AUB, SPNL, and Amwaj an Organic Farming Pilot Project (4000 m2) in Tyre Coast Nature Reserve that aims at demonstrating to the farmers the techniques and benefits of organic farming and how to save the ozone layer.

This complete pilot project will tackle problems facing the Lebanese farmer from the planting techniques and procedures to the marketing of produce.

Moreover, awareness on the safe use of ago-chemical and wise use of water is taking place simultaneously with the farmers of the reserve to guide and assist them.

A special thanks to Methyl Bromide Alternatives project and their very dedicated team for their assistance in the biofumigation and solarization of the plot.

The produce will be out during the festive seasons of Ramadan and Christmas so be sure to place your orders of healthy vegetables, that save the ozone layer, and help conserve Tyre Coast Nature Reserve lands and the farmers find a better living.
